Police busts narco terror module, seized heroin worth Rs. 30 crores, ammunitions

BARAMULLA, June 19: Police today claimed to have arrested at least 10 persons and recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition besides 11 packets of Heroin in different places of North Kashmir and other places.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Mohammad Rayees Bhat held a press conference where he said, “We had specific inputs about the modules after which a joint team of security forces including Police, Army and CRPF established various motor vehicle checkpoints at different places in North Kashmir.” He said a case has been registered in this regard. The top police official said that they were successful in busting a narco-terror module, that is operating from different places including UP and some other parts outside of UT, adding the team is currently in Jammu and have made some arrests with the assistance of Jammu police.
According to the police handout, 10 persons were arrested and they were identified as, Reyaz Ahmad Hajam, s/o Ali Mohammad Hajam r/o Yarikah Chadoora Budgam, Adil Bashir s/o Bashir Ahmad r/o Nemthal Chadoora Budgam, Angraz Singh s/o Harjeet Singh r/o Chadharpur The Ajnata district Amritsar Punjab, Sajid Ahmad Shah s/o Mohammad Nazir Shah r/o Lalpora Lolab Kupwara, Sharafat Khan s/o Lal Badshah Khan r/o Gaisu Kupwara, Shahid Hussain s/o Wali Mohammad Rather r/o Khaipora Tangmarg, Raman s/o Prem r/o Housing Board Colony Ferozpur, Rohit s/o Gopal Chand r/o Bastia border road Ferozpur (presently in Central Jail Gerozpur in narcotics case), Krishan s/o Vijay Kumar r/o Bastia border road Ferozpur and Faiz Ahmad Khan s/o Mohd Ashraf r/o Keeran Kupwara.
Huge quantity of arms, ammunition and other war like store has been recovered from the possession of arrestees. These include 10 Chinese grenades, four Chinese pistols, four pistol magazine, 20 pistol rounds, 5.5 Kgs of heroin (value of pure contraband on black market 25-30 crores approx), in 11 pkts, Indian currency 21. 5 Lacs, Cheques two (Rs 1,00,000/ in all), Eicher Canter Truck-PB13AR-8956=01, Hyundai Verna-DL7CM-9873=01, Scooty JK01AA-1827=01, Maruti Swift JK01A-0040=01.
