Police go hard against illegal mining in Poonch district, seize JCB, tippers

Poonch, June 21: Taking strict action against illegal mining in the district Poonch by seizing many tippers, trolleys, JCBs, the SSP Poonch has reportedly issued clear instructions to its subordinates to go hard against illegal activities in the district.
As part of its drive, the police seized JCB in Chandak, which was excavating mineral minors in the river bed. Locals had informed about the illegal mining by JCB in the river bed to concerned police, which took action and a flying squad reached the spot and seized the JCB and took it to the concerned Police Station.
Sources in the police informed that a penalty of Rs 1 lakh will be imposed on the owner of the JCB. Similarly there were many vehicles parked in the police station which were caught while doing illegal mining activities.
Talking to Early Times, SSP Poonch said that stern action will be taken against whosoever violates the court order. The mining will be allowed only when new guidelines are issued, he added.
“I have passed on the instructions to all police stations and police chowkis to take action against illegal mining and drug peddling.
No tipper, tractor trolleys should be passed through the marketplace,” he informed.
