Azad encourages Young Gandhians during GGF webinar

Jammu, June 22: Gandhi Global Family, United Nations recognised Peace NGO has launched ‘Know Your Country’ competition where 22 Young Gandhians of junior category (of 9th – 12th STD) from North Zone and South Zone highlighted the socio-cultural significant of their States/UTs which was based on Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of truth, non-violence, harmony, morality and simplicity.
Total 22 students of 16 States/UTs participated during the webinar which was chaired by Ghulam Nabi Azad, President, Gandhi Global Family. The concept of Know Your Country is based on eminent Gandhian Baba Amte’s Bharat Jodo Abhiyan launched in 1986. Gandhi Global Family is popularising the same concept in next generation of India by involving students of Class 9 to Class 12.
North Zone finalists are Tsewang Chosdob (Leh) from Ladakh, Munner (Kokernag) from Kashmir and Aditya Wazir (Katra) from Jammu, where as South Zone finalists are Shraya Girish (Bangalore) from Karnataka, Jai Chidaa Murugappan (Karalkudi) from Tamil Nadu and Adarsh Pal Gobind (Port Blair) from Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
The names of the winning students were announced by a bench of two judges composed of GGF Spokesperson Ashok Kapoor (Delhi) and GGF Women Chairperson (Port Blair) Anuradha Lal (Andaman & Nicobar Islands).
GGF President Azad congratulated the Young Gandhians for displaying the unique cultures, rich history and other important salient features of their region. He encouraged Young Gandhians to read more about the pre-independence history of India and learn more about the freedom fighters and their contributions.
