6/22/2021 11:42:49 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 22: Agitated over the biased treatment perpetuated against Jammu region by the successive govts particularly the BJP regime, the NPP activists led by Harsh Dev Singh Chairman-JKNPP and Yash Paul Kundal General Secretary-JKNPP held a massive protest and torched the effigy of the BJP Govt at Press Club, Jammu today.
The protestors raised slogans of “Modi Sarkar Jammu ki Partiyon ko Nazarandaz Karna Bandh Karo”, “Gupkari BJP Hai Hai”, “Jammu Virodhi BJP Hai Hai”, “Alagbad Samarthak BJP Hai Hai”.
Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Dev cautioned the govt to refrain from taking Jammu region for granted. “No more of subjugation shall be tolerated. Jammu people can’t be punished for their secular and nationalist credentials. Stop treating Jammu as a colony of Kashmir and New Delhi leaders. Stop looking at Jammu region with a jaundiced eye. We are equal stakeholders in the political landscape of J&K and pampering of one region at the cost of the other is wholly un-acceptable.
It could have serious ramifications”, cautioned Singh.
Seeking party between the two regions till the time the status of statehood was granted to Jammu region, Singh called for just and equitable treatment to both regions of J&K.
We want equal share for the two regions of Jammu and Kashmir in govt Jobs, Assembly seats, allocation of funds, development projects, power and health sectors besides general welfare schemes. And the govt will have to make a beginning in this direction by ensuring equal representation to both the regions in the All Party Meet to be chaired by the PM on 24th June, 2021, said Singh.
Seeking an employment package for the educated unemployed youth, Mr. Singh castigated the BJP govt for squeezing the Job avenues and large scale retrenchments of govt and other public sector employees of Jammu region in particular. He sought a development package for rural and remote areas that had suffered immensely on development front during last 6 years.
Yash Paul Kundal questioned the differential treatment given to J&K in the matter of reservation in promotions to SC. He said that while the said reservation was being given in rest of the country, the denial of the same in J&K had adversely impacted the promotion prospects of SC employees of Jammu region.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Padgotra, Gagan Pratap Singh, Rajeshwar Sambyal, Surinder Chouhan, Mohinder Singh, Vishab Singh, Rajesh Gondhi, Rakesh Gupta, Naresh Sharma, Yashpaul Sharma, Ved Raj Sharma, Ranjeet Singh, Balram Kundal, Manjit Kumar, Parladh Singh, Shankaar Singh, Rashpaul Singh, Nikhil Bhagat, Satpaul Singh, Vijay Singh besides others.
