Srinagar, June 23: A shopkeeper was critically injured by unidentified gunmen in the summer capital, Srinagar, on Wednesday. Official sources said that panic gripped Habba Kadal in downtown Srinagar, when unidentified gunmen barged into a mobile shop and fired at the shopkeeper. “The shopkeeper, identified as Umar Ahmad, was critically injured in the attack,” they said. They said the wounded was rushed to SHMS hospital, where his health condition is stated to be stable but critical. “The gunmen managed to escape from the spot during the chaos created due to the firing,” they said. They said security forces have been rushed to the area and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers. The incident comes just a day after an Inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), J&K police, was killed by suspected militants at Menganwaji in Nowgam area in Srinagar outskirts. |
