Irrelevant Lot

After August 5, 2019—when the Centre announced its decision to revoke J&K’s special status and divided it into two union territories— separatists in Kashmir have lost their addresses. There have been no chalo or strike calls, nor has the Valley witnessed any stone-pelting incident or a street protest.
Separatists like Shabir Shah, Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Khan and others who were at the forefront of fomenting trouble in Kashmir are cooling their heels in prison.
Recently, Shabir Shah, had moved a bail application in the court but the Enforcement Directorate had opposed it. The ED had stated that Shah had colluded with Pakistan to create unrest in J&K and was also involved in terror financing activities as terrorists need money to sustain and to carry out terror acts.
Other separatists too are facing similar charges. The investigating agencies have collected enough evidence to prove that these so-called leaders of Kashmir were involved in money laundering cases and acted as stooges of Pakistan in the Valley.
After the abrogation of Article 370, no one in Kashmir has shown any interest in separatism and sedition. It has been proven beyond doubt that only a handful of elements were interested to keep Kashmir burning. During the past 30-years, these separatists sold illusions and dreams to Kashmiris. Helped Pakistan sponsored militants to create mayhem in the Valley and fought a war against the State, but as on date they stand exposed before the people as all their misdoings have come to fore. The huge wealth amassed by them during all these years has surprised many people in the Valley. As on date no one in Kashmir is even talking about them as they have turned irrelevant and insignificant.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government has cracked a whip against separatists and has cut them to size. These separatists used to claim that peace will never prevail in Kashmir and they won’t allow anyone to remain in peace.
It appears that the era of uncertainty is coming to an end in Jammu and Kashmir as the people have rejected the leaders like Geelani, Malik and Mirwaiz. After 2019 it has become clear that people of Kashmir have realized the futility of supporting the elements inimical to peace as they have joined the mainstream and are busy building their lives and careers. Kashmiris have said goodbye to separatism and to the people who used to preach hate and sedition.
