Theatre Director Ankur Sharma features in Natrang’s Theatre Talk Show

JAMMU, July 4: Eminent theatre actor, director and trainer, Dr Ankur Sharma from Punjab featured today at Natrang’s National Theatre Talk Show, ‘Young Voices of Theatre’ today, he shared his inspirational views with the global audience at the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu.
Dr Ankur Sharma is a PhD in English Literature from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. He has been active in theatre since 2006 and founded YUVAA theatre with a few of his students in Jalandhar in 2008. He has directed more than 30 plays since then, some of which are Hamlet, Jab Shehar Hamara Sota Hai, Kharaashein, All My Sons and Court Martial. He also wrote and directed plays like Chaturangg, Dil Kidney aur Ghanti and Chidiyaghar for YUVAA theatre. He has acted in more than a dozen plays and has worked in a couple of films as an actor too. He also acted in a couple of plays in the USA and London. He was a Special Research Fellow at Yale School of Drama, USA in 2014-2015 and a Shakespeare student at RADA, London in 2016.
In an enriching conversation with Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee actor and Natrang’s senior artist Anil Tickoo, Dr Ankur narrated his eventful journey of theatre.
In an endeavour to make theatre in Jalandhar more professional and commercially successful, he has initiated several ventures like regular staging of plays, forming a street theatre group, starting a National Theatre Festival, starting a State level Punjabi Theatre Festival and more. He also shared his wonderful experience of learning at Yale School of Drama, USA and RADA, London. Speaking about his tireless and reverberating efforts in theatre, an ardent theatre enthusiast, Ankur believes that when you have passion for something, the day is long enough. For him, theatre is a very vast field and it is always better to be a student forever, only then you would enrich yourself and also experience its bliss. He believes that the Corona crisis has caused severe damage to art and its practitioners yet the praiseworthy efforts like this Talk Show have kept the spirit alive and complemented Natrang for inspiring hundreds of people to do meaningful work.
