Early Times Report
jammu, July 4: A block level officer in the Horticulture department reportedly entered into a heated argument with the Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO) of his district in presence of over dozen officers during a meeting at Direction Office Jammu.
The block level officer was reportedly angry over the withholding of his salary by the CHO for the last over three-four months for raising questions over manipulation of funds and corruption in various schemes.
Sources told Early Times that a meeting of CHOs of Jammu province was called by the Principal Secretary of the Horticulture Department here on July 3.The meeting ended at around 2:30 PM, following which the Director Horticulture called another meeting of all the CHOs in his office chamber.
During the meeting, one Horticulture Development Officer (HDO), a block level officer, entered into the Director's chamber and started projecting his requests for releasing his salary as well as enquiry into various issues, which he had raised before the department.
Officers available in the meeting informed that however on getting no positive response the HDO failed to control his temper and entered into a verbal duel with the CHO. Sources said the other officers and employees present in the meeting intervened and pacified the situation while many other CHOs remained as mute spectators over the incident.
Sources said the HDO was angry over the withholding of his salary by the CHO for the last over three-four months. The HDO had reportedly raised questions over the alleged manipulation of funds and corruption in various schemes and involvement of some officers of the department, after which his salary was withheld and enquiry was initiated against him.
When contacted Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Sevak said that he was busy in a meeting and would reply later.
