| Civil Society demands reservation for Pahari community | | |

POONCH, July 8: A team of senior leaders, civil society members and senior citizens of district Poonch today demanded reservation for Pahari community. Senior Congress Leader Taj Mir, member of Human Rights commission advocate Taj Hussain Shah, Chairman Pir Panjal Human Rights Commission advocate Mohd Zaman, Senion citizen Manzoor Ahmed Lone and Shahnawaz Diwan along with other activists hold a press conference here today and sought reservation for Pahari community in Jammu and Kashmir assembly.
Speaking on the occasion speakers said, "A delegation of delimitation commission is in Kashmir and delimitation process is in progress". "All the leaders, activists and citizen raised the issue that the delimitation process should be done in the lights of proper facts and percentage of population of different segments".
They said, "Pahari segment has already been ignored in DDC elections and community will never like such type of injustice with segment in assembly election". The appealed to Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha to consider Pahari community separately and reserve seats as per their population. |
