Anantnag, July 8: The National Conference Leader from Shopain district of South Kashmir on Wednesday stoked controversy after labeling other all political parties with infamous renegades (Ikhwanis).
“NC is the only political party in J&K and has a base here while the rest are renegades (Ikhwanis), ‘’Shabir Kullay, NC leader and District President Shopain told reporters at Pahalgam.
He along with District President Kulgam Abdul Majeed Larmi didn’t meet the Delimitation Commission after the security authorities deployed at Pahalgam Club gate disallowed their ‘uninvited’ colleagues to enter the venue.
“Why should I wait here? It isn’t a big issue and we should return,” he told his party colleagues.
Shabir Kullay called it a mockery of the system and said that they will not meet the commission members.
The NC leaders created ruckus at the entry gate and left without meeting the commission.
“This Commission will do whatever they have to do,” District President Kulgam Abdul Majeed Larmi alleged.
He told the media that they will not meet the commission if the authorities will not allow their senior leaders.
“We were made to wait for long and conveyed that only four district presidents of the National Conference will be allowed to meet the commission members,” he said.
However, District President Anantnag and former MLA Pahalgam Altaf Ahmad Kaloo later met the commission and presented a memorandum demanding transparency in the delimitation exercise.
“This all happened just because of a communication gap but we met the Delimitation Commission and submitted a written memorandum,” he said.
The scenes created by National Conference leaders outside the venue however didn’t go well with the top leadership of the party.
