| RDD flouts rules, transfers GRS despite her involvement in fraud | | | Ajay Sharma

REASI, July 7: The officers and officials of Rural Development Department (RDD) have allegedly violated norms by shifting a GRS despite her involvement in a fraud. Sources told Early Times that in 2019-2020 the issue of malpractices in the allotment of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) in the Khothian Panchayat in Pouni block had surfaced.
Investigations had revealed the fraud had happened due to the nexus between concerned GRS, Village Level Worker (VLW) and some other officials of the Rural Development Department. “Following the surfacing of the fraud the GRS was attached with the office of Block Development Officer, Pouni.
The VLW and ACD were also involved in the fraud,” said sources. They said the deserving ones were left out of the scheme with the non-deserving made it to the list of beneficiaries. They said the GRS, involved in the scam has been transferred from the Khothian in violation of the rules. “The attachment was a punishment for the her.” “The mandate of a GRS is to work in the village and the official cannot be transferred to any other village or Panchayat. The same has been done in order to ensure that no punitive action is taken against the accused GRS and other officials involved in the fraud,” said sources. The locals urged Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene saying that a probe should be ordered to ascertain as how come the GRS was transferred and why no action has been taken against the concerned officers as well as officials. When contacted Block Development Officer Pouni said that he is in a meeting and would get back after verifying the facts. |
