| BKUR delegation meets Delimitation Commission | | |

SAMBA, July 8: A delegation of Border Kissan Union Ramgarh (BKUR) Samba under the presidentship of Mohan Singh Bhatti called on Delimitation Commission and demanded creation of one more MLA seat for border area of Samba District.
The delegation opined before Commission that the existing Vijaypur and Samba two MLA seats were already functional but following the up gradation of Samba tehsil into district, which led to an increase in area and population, so a new seat should be added.
Pertinent to mention is, that accordingly with topography of our Samba district, it is divided in two different shapes of "Kandi" and "Plain " area. The Border Kissan Union delegation expressed their concern regarding denial of basic necessities to the border dwellers.
They also suggested that most of the border dwellers are scattered Displaced Persons of 1947,1965 and 1971 from Chhamb and Mirpur area of POJK and allotted cultivating land on it. "Reportedly if the authorities concerned want to curve the pending MLA seats of POJK, from same quota our Samba Border seat can also be adjusted", they said. |
