Rajouri Forest Division begins Green J&K Drive 2021

RAJOURI, July 20: Rajouri Forest Division today began a mega plantation drive here at Rajouri Town under "Green J&K Drive" 2021 at Bela Park Rajouri.
Dr Mohit Gera, PCCF J&K was the chief guest and K Ramesh Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu was the guest of honour.
B Mohan Daas, Conservator of Forests, West Circle Rajouri, Dr Arashdeep Singh, Divisional Forest Officer, Rajouri, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Chairman Municipality Rajouri, Officers of District Administration Rajouri, members of urban local bodies and other prominent citizens and public of Rajouri participated in the plantation drive. During the drive 500 saplings of different trees and fruit species were planted. Dr Mohit Gera also distributed fruit plants to local people and briefed the gathering about the objectives of Green J&K Drive 2021 and emphasized on planting more fruit plants and plants of medicinal value.
Gera also convened an awareness meeting and interaction with FRC Chairmen and members at CF Office Rajouri and ensured them that genuine forest rights will be recognized under the
Later, the PCCF J&K inspected the newly renovated Forest Rest House at Panja Chowk Rajouri which has been opened online for public booking and conducted a review meeting at Conference Hall of CF West Circle Rajouri for reviewing the progress of works being under implementation in West Circle , Rajouri under various schemes.
Dr Arashdeep Singh, Divisional Forest Officer Rajouri apprised the importance of plantation in preventing soil erosion, role of trees in hydrological cycle and food chain and various development activites of Rajouri Forest Division. He also informed that 3000 ornamental plants of different species like Sukh Chain, Gulmohr, Silver Oak will be planted in the vicinity of Rajouri city within week time to enhance greenery of Rajouri Town so as to ensure a healthy environment to the public of Rajouri.
