Early Times Report

Jammu, July 20: Residents of Masha Mohalla in Kacha Talab area are up in arms against the government for failing to provide them with basic amenities of life.
Residents while narrating their ordeal told Early Times that the road in their area was macadamized six years ago and since then nothing has been done to maintain or repair it.
“Power outages and water scarcity have become a part of our lives. Drainage system remains blocked and these keep on over flowing,” they said.
A woman said, “Politicians visit our area only during the election times. We have not seen anyone coming here for the past so many years.
Our pleas to provide us with the basic amenities have fallen flat on the deaf ears.” Another resident said, “Whenever we take up the issue of macadamizing our road with the concerned authorities we are told that no tenders have been issued for our lane.
We are being victimized without even being told what’s our fault.”
He said that people have to walk upto the main road as the link road leading to their area is not motorbale. “So many accidents have taken place in our lane due to potholes and open drains, but no one seems bothered to address our genuine concerns,” said Jarnail Singh.
Residents appealed to the authorities to pay some attention towards Masha Mohalla and wake up from the deep slumber.
