Govt employees to celebrate festival without salary !
7/20/2021 11:56:29 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 20: Yet again, a section of employees of Jammu and Kashmir government will celebrate the upcoming festival without clearance of their monthly dues.
The aggrieved said for the last two-three years, the monthly salaries of employees are not paid in time even ahead of the festivals while such complaints have been pouring in from departments like the Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation(JKPCC), the J&K Cements and also the civic bodies like the Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
While the employees of JKPCC have complained that they don’t get salary for months “together”, in the latest their wages haven’t been paid ahead of Eid ul Azha. The employees said the same had happened in the past at the time of Diwali, Shivratri and Baisakhi.
Sources said the JKPCC employees have been getting monthly salary after three to four months. “This time our salary has not been paid for the last three months and now have been paid the salary for the one month alone which is even not enough to buy a sacrificial animal for the Eid,” said an employee of the JKPCC.
The employees said it was unfair that the government had been unable to clear their dues. “It’s the duty of the government to pay our wages in time but unfortunately we’re being taken forgranted for the last three years,” said a delegation of the aggrieved employees from the JKPCC.
The plight of employees of JK Cements looks “even worse.”We haven’t got salary properly for years than to talk of months. Be it Eid or Diwali our families are left to starvation,” said a delegation of the employees.
On the previous Eid, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation had also not cleared salary of dozens of employees, who go their monthly dues after the festival.
Observers said the administration due to alleged negligence has been unable to realize dream of Naya Kashmir as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “One one hand Modi Ji looks ahead at deliverance of good governance in Naya Kashmir, but on the other hand, the administrative failures are proving a spoilsport,” quipped a official in the Civil Secretariat on the condition of anonymity.
When contacted a senior official said there were financial issues due to which the wages were not being cleared in time. Talking to the Early Times on the condition of anonymity he said the system was being streamlined.
