EARLY TIMES REPORT

UDHAMPUR, July 21: A large portion, about 13 kms stretch, between Sunater and Danwalt on Ramnagar-Danwalt road which was blacktopped just a month back has been washed away due to heavy rainfall a few days ago.
Sources informed that about 25 kms long Ramnagar-Danwalt road was to be completed in two stretches-Ramnagar to Sunater (about 12 kms) has been blacktopped a year back while another stretch Sunater to Danwalt (13 kms) was blacktopped just a month ago but it could not withstand the vagaries of weather and washed away completely, leaving only the traces of the road. The road provided connectivity to villages like Pyala, Konain, Dhannu and Danwalt thereby benefitting 3000 people.
Sources informed that sub-standard work was done on the road while the locals of the area also claimed that material used in construction of the road was not of good quality. When contacted PMGSY Executive Engineer, Ramnagar, Satish Bagat said that that work on the road is still going on and in the absence of drains the blacktopping over the road was washed away. “After construction of the drains blacktopping of the road will be again done,” he assured.
