Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 21: Natrang's National Theatre Talk Show, 'Young Voices of Theatre' featured National School of Drama alumni, actor-director and writer, Sanjay Kumar Shrivastava today, who shared his inspiring views with the global audience on the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu. Sanjay Kumar Shrivastava, a science graduate and Masters in Hindi Literature completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Performing Arts from Dr. H. S. Gaur University, Sagar in Madhya Pradesh. During his 25 years of experience in theatre, he was associated with 'Rang Vidushak', Bhopal, 'Dost Rang Group', 'Anveshan Theatre Group', Sagar and 'Pahuna Lok Jan Samiti', Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh. Sanjay Kumar has the credit of acting in more than 40 plays and directed more than 20 plays. He has written 5 plays, dramatized more than 12 stories, poems and stories of different genres.
In an interesting conversation with Nartang's senior artist Neeraj Kant, Sanjay narrated his journey of theatre. He got a creative atmosphere in his surroundings in childhood which inspired him to do theatre. He considers himself fortunate to be born at a place where he was surrounded by so many folk art forms.
He also discussed about the financial hardships for pure arts but still is determined about his work and finds the challenges to be part of life. From 2017 he started organising regular theatre festivals in his region, which generated audiences for theatre. He believes that nothing is fixed in theatre and it is a continuous process. Moreover, it has the power to transform its practitioners and make society a better place. He opines that if one could find the answer to the question, why he/she wants to do theatre, the journey becomes meaningful. As all of the guest speakers have expressed their concern towards the wrath of the Corona crisis, he also believes that it has been a great challenge for the artists and also appreciated the distinctive efforts like Natrang's National Talk Show which kept the spirit of theatre alive even during tough times. He also informed about the creative projects he initiated during this time of uncertainty.
