Online faculty development programme organized

JAMMU, July 24: A two-day online faculty development program on Library automation by Library and Documentation Wing of SCERT J&K was organized.
In order to acquaints the school Librarians and Junior Librarians of the Jammu province with the latest appropriate and effective handling of Library Services, Library and Documentation wing of SCERT J&K, Jammu organized a Two day online Faculty Development on Library Automation.
The programme was organised as per the directions of Principal Secretary to Govt. School Education Department, B.K Singh ,I.F.S. and under the guidance of Director SCERT J&K ,Professor Veena Pandita.
The main aim of the programme was to learn about the automation of Library services like cataloguing and circulation. It also focused to achieve the 4th law of library i.e. to save the time of users.
The programme was inaugurated by Joint Director, SCERT J&K, Jammu Surinder Kumar who spoke at length about the services being provided in the libraries and laid stress to free the librarians and library staff and to allow them to contribute more meaningfully to the spread of knowledge and information.
Resource person Romesh Chander Sharma, Assistant Librarian, from Central University of Jammu was invited to accomplish the purpose regarding Library automation.
The Faculty Development programme was co-ordinated by Ruchi Mohan, Librarian, SCERT J&K, Jammu who presented welcome address and also gave introduction to the topic. A total of 20 Librarians & Junior Librarians from 10 districts of Jammu province attended the FDP (2 Nomination from each district). The programme was supported by Irvinder Kour, Asstt Prof. (+2 Principal), Manju Choudhary, Master and Pallavi Joshi LA.
The programme concluded with small valedictory session that included feedback from the participants vote of thanks was presented by Kishore Kumar, Associate Prof (CEO), SCERT J&K ,Jammu and Head of Library & Documentation wing under whose guidance the programme was a big success.
