Early Times Report

BANDIPORA, July 24: Three unidentified militants have been killed today, while three armymen also got injured in an ongoing encounter in
Sumblar area of Shokbaba forest in this north Kashmir district today.
A joint by a team of Police, Army's 13, 14 RR and CRPF launched cordon and search operation in the area. As the joint team intensified the search operation, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off an encounter.
Two unidentified militants were killed earlier and three soldiers got injured, adding one more militant body is visible, taking death toll of militants to three in an encounter in this north Kashmir district Bandipora district.
A senior police official told early times that, after specific intelligence reports about the presence of 2-3 militants in the Sumblar area of Bandipora, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Shokbaba forest area today morning.
"Operation is being carried out by a joint team of Police, Army's 13RR, 14RR and CRPF to engage the militants and to eliminate them as soon as possible, the Army official informed.
To combat the operation here is a bit difficult as the militants took shelter in the dense woods and behind the rocks, but we have cordoned the whole area from all sides, said an Army official.
"Soon after receiving inputs about presence of militants, the forces were conducting searches in the area and rushed towards the suspected spot, where the hiding militants fired upon them, the forces retaliated, triggering an encounter in which two militants were killed", the police officer said.
He said that in the initial firing three soldiers were also injured in the gunfight, adding they were taken to the hospital for advanced treatment.
Meanwhile identity and group affiliation of the slain militants wasn't immediately ascertained, the police said.
The operation was in progress, till the last reports came in.
It is pertinent to mention here that, in the past twenty four hours, this is the second encounter in north Kashmir, as on Friday LeT commander, Fayaz War among two militants were killed in an encounter in Sopore town of Baramulla district.
However forces believe that, it was a big success for them by neutralising a top commander in North Kashmir.
