Pan-India terror module: NIA conducts raids across J&K
8/1/2021 12:22:00 AM

Early Times Report

Srinagar, July 31: With the arrest of two terrorists, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had busted a terror syndicate involved in supplying arms to terrorists of Jammu and Kashmir from Bihar on July 23.
Two residents of Bihar were arrested by the NIA for their alleged involvement in transporting arms from Bihar and handing the same consignment to terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir.
In this connection, the NIA on Saturday along with J&K police and CRPF conducted searches at nine locations in Shopian, Anantnag, and Jammu districts in the case RC-01/2021/NIA/JMU.
The case was initially registered as FIR No. 16/2021 of Gangyal Police Station, District Jammu relating to a conspiracy by Lashkar-e-Mustafa(LeM), working at the behest of Jaish-e- Mohammed, to carry out terrorist activities in J&K with an intention to threaten sovereignty, integrity, and security of India. NIA had re-registered the case as RC-01/2021/NIA/JMU dated 02.03.2021 and taken over the investigation.
During the searches, many digital devices including mobile phones, hard disks, memory cards, pen drives, laptops, and many booklets containing incriminating materials have been recovered from the premises of the arrested accused and the suspects in the case.
Subsequent to searches, one accused person namely Irfan Ahmed Dar s/o Md Yakoob Dar r/o Batingoo, Anantnag was also arrested today in the case. A preliminary investigation has revealed that he was involved in the conspiracy of carrying out terrorist activities in collusion with other arrested accused persons.
As reported earlier, two residents of Bihar were arrested after questioning Hidayatullah Malik, the self-styled chief of Lashkar-e-Mustafa (LeM) terror organization, who was planning a major attack in Jammu city. He was arrested on February 6, 2021, in the Kunjwani area of Jammu city.
As per police, Malik had done reconnaissance of many security installations in Jammu and Delhi in 2018 and 2019 for carrying out terror attacks. He was associated with other terror groups in past and was involved in terror activities in Kashmir Valley. He was involved in a bank robbery in which Rs 60 lakh were looted from J&K Bank, Main Branch Shopian in November 2020.
LeM had hatched a conspiracy at the behest of proscribed terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed to carry out terrorist activities in the Jammu area to threaten India's sovereignty, integrity, and security.
