Rajouri, Aug 8: Progressive Youth Club affiliated with the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Rajouri, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India organised a programme in connection with the celebration of first gold of India in athletics in Olympics 2021. The youth club members distributed sweets among themselves and celebrated this occasion by holding National Flag and holding discussions regarding the performance of India in Olympics.
They also held deliberations on how to promote sports culture in the country.
Soonam Sharma, President, Progressive Youth Club said that after 13 years India has won a gold in athletics. This is a very big achievement for the entire country. She also highlighted that efforts should be made to promote sports culture in the country. She said that there are hundreds of athletes who don’t get chance to showcase their talent.
Sports infrastructure should be spread throughout the country in order to enable the talent emerge at the global level. She expressed concern that for a country as large as 1.4 billion people, the medal tally should have been adorned with more medals. She expressed hope that now the efforts are being made to develop sports infrastructure in the country and in the coming years, visible improvement can be expected in Sports. |
