Nanak Nagar Sector-6: Roads not repaired for last 8-9 years
8/9/2021 12:46:53 AM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 8: Residents of Nanak Nagar Sector-6 are up in arms against the district administration over its failure in improving conditions of the roads in their area. The dilapidated roads, ridden with potholes, are causing inconvenience to pedestrians as well as drivers.
“Most of the roads in Sector-6 near Shiv Mandir are in extremely bad condition,” said Jagir Singh, a local resident. The huge potholes make it difficult for pedestrians as well as the people who ride two wheelers on rainy days. The roads are in shambles, which is only consuming the time of the commuters and also damaging their vehicles,” he added. He further said that in public speeches, they hear that the Centre has been sending funds to JK UT for development of roads but they don’t see such funds spent on maintenance of roads. Interestingly it has come to fore that a major part of the fund is lapsed without its utilization, he alleged. “We came to this locality in 2007 but since then we have not seen any road work here for years due to which we have to face huge difficulty. We also contacted local corporator regarding this issue but despite assurance nothing was done till date,” said Balwinder Kumar, Neelam Devi, the local residents. Bachan Lal Choudhary alleged that their area has not been taken care of in terms of development. “The nallahs have not been covered in all areas due to which there remains unhygienic condition. We are assured every year that their problems will be solved but no action has been taken on ground,” he said. During rainy days our streets get filled with water as there is no outlet for this water, the concerned leaders were requested many times but nothing has happened till date, said Heena Abrol, Asha Devi and Kuldeep Kour.
