RAJOURI, Aug 8: Amid the Covid pandemic, the pathetic condition of Devak-Hathal road in tehsil Sunderbani of district Rajouri is adding to the woes of local residents. Despite the huge outcry by the locals against the bad condition of the Devak-Hathal road, it remains the same and the condition has worsened.
No action has been taken to repair the road. Locals have no option other than to commute through the pot-holed road to reach their respective destinations.
“Several mishaps have occurred due to the dilapidated condition of the road. It is quite hard to negotiate big pot holes. It is also difficult to differentiate between the muddy road and the drain,” said a resident. “For the past few months, the condition of the road has become more pathetic. Not just for buses, it becomes difficult even for light motor vehicles to negotiate through the stretch,”he added.
Another local said that it is a major route used by residents, especially office-goers, and children, and for emergency hospital cases.
“The pathetic condition of the road has been same for the last several months now. Although many pleas were made in the past, nothing has happened. It is really sad to note that a main route like this is continually being ignored by the authorities,” said the local, who frequents this route. |
