Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 10: Jain Bazar Shopkeepers Association in Jammu on August 5 had erected a big hoarding to mark the second anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370.
The traders said that they had erected the hoarding to express gratitude to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for taking a bold decision and merging J&K completely into the Union of India. "We are nationalist people and wanted to send a message across that we stand by each and every decision taken by the Prime Minister," the traders said.
However, the traders expressed dismay over the dilapidated condition of the roads at Jain Bazaar. "This market is the heritage bazaar of the Jammu region but the pathetic plight of the roads causes lot of inconvenience to the commuters and the customers who visit this heritage bazaar," they said.
After the abrogation of Article 370, people of Jammu were hoping that the ground situation will change for the better and things would improve, but it has not happened. "Bureaucrats seem least bothered about the problems of people and are least interested in addressing their issues. They sit in their air conditioned rooms and pass directions without caring whether these orders are implemented on ground or not," said, a shopkeeper.
He said, "It's unfortunate that the basic needs of the nationalist people of Jammu are being ignored. It's not only Jain Bazar there are so many areas in the city where roads are unfit and commuting is difficult."
