RAMBAN, Aug 27: After 9 hours police restored the traffic movement on Jammu Srinagar National Highway by restored Lathicharge to disperse the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists, this evening.
It is pertinent to mention here that Early this morning hundreds of protesters sat on dharna and blocked the Jammu Srinagar National Highway.
Earlier on Thursday night they staged a protest outside Police Station Ramban demanding release of ABVP activists arrested on Thursday afternoon for opposing the construction of an additional oxygen generation plant sanctioned by government under PM Care in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School adjacent to District Hospital Ramban.
Police officials said ABVP activist Tarun Dev Singh, Pawan Rathore and Aryan and others were booked vide FIR number 132 under relevant sections of law registered at Police Station Ramban.
The protestors remained adamant on suspension of Station House Officer Police Station Ramban allegedly for beating ABVP activists.
The protestors also demanded transfer of Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, later DIG Doda Kishtwar Ramban Range Udhay Bhaskar Billa reached at Police Station Ramban held several rounds of talks with protestors, locals and members of Bar Association Ramban to end the protest and restore the National Highway but failed later the police and other security agencies started lathicharge to disperse the protestors and vehicular traffic on both sides on Jammu Srinagar National Highway was restored after nine 9 hours.
Meanwhile, the district administration has imposed section 144 CrPc across Ramban district and warned of strict action on violations.
