JAMMU, Aug 27: In a petition filed by Satinder Singh and Joginder Singh challenging the order of Revenue Secretary whereby Revenue Secretary ordered that Tenure of existing Gurdwara Prabandhak Committees extended by three months in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, Justice Sindhu Sharma directed Deputy Commissioner, Jammu to file a status report regarding construction activity being undertaken, if any, in Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar, Jammu and Gurudwara Chati Patshahi at Talab Tillo, near Guest House, Jammu.
When the petition came-up for hearing, Justice Sindhu Sharma observed that in this petition vide order dated 17.07.2020, it was directed that exercise of powers by the Committee in terms of the impugned notification would be supervised and monitored by the concerned Deputy Commissioner.
Justice Sindhu Sharma further observed that in their compliance report all the concerned Deputy Commissioners have submitted that they have constituted committees and officers for supervising and monitoring exercise of powers.
During the course of the petitioners submit that construction activity is being undertaken at Gurudwara Singh Sahib, Nanak Nagar and Gurudwara Chhati Badshai at Talab Tillo, near Guest House, Jammu without any prior approval and offerings made in all the Gurudwaras are also not being maintained in terms of Rule 56 and the same are not handed over to the treasuries properly. The financial transactions are being done without prior approval of the competent authority.
Justice Sindhu Sharma directed Deputy Commissioner, Jammu shall file a status report regarding construction activity being undertaken, if any, in Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Nanak Nagar, Jammu and Gurudwara Chati Patshahi at Talab Tillo, near Guest House, Jammu. He shall also indicate in the status report whether prior approval for the same was obtained. Report regarding offerings and financial transactions be also filed by the next date.
