FOB Udhampur organizes webinar

UDHAMPUR, Aug 27: Field Outreach Bureau, Udhampur in coordination with PIB Jammu, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India today organised a webinar on 'Role of farmers & tribal revolts during the freedom movement of India' as a part of the iconic week celebrations under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mohatsav'.
Khursheed Yousuf, Field Publicity Officer, FOB, Udhampur in his welcome address said that the main aim of conducting this webinar is to make people aware of the contribution of famers and tribal revolts during the freedom movement. He further said that the farmers & tribals played a pivotal role during India's independence period against the British colonialists.
Dr. Javaid Rahi, author, social reformer & tribal researcher in his address said that no other community in India offered such heroic resistance to imperialist British Rule as did the numerous tribal movements during the freedom movement of India. He further said that the tribals in J&K also played an important role during the freedom movement of India and didn't let the Britishers to touch the boundaries by sacrificing their life for the motherland.
YashPaul, Assistant Professor, History, Government Degree college, women, Udhampur in his address highlighted the role of farmers during the freedom movement & said that the farmers emerged as the main force against the Britishers be that Indigo rebellion, Champaran Satyagraha, Bardoli Satyagraha etc. Praising Birsa Munda for his indomitable spirit, he said that Birsa Munda mobilised the tribal community against the British and had also forced the colonial officials to introduce laws protecting the land rights of the tribals.
Besides students & teachers from various institutions of J&K, Sheikh Mudasir Amin, Media and Communications Officer, PIB, Jammu, Adil Shameem Andrabi, FEO, Jammu, Gurnaam Singh, in charge FOB, Rajouri, Rajesh Sharma, in charge FOB, Doda were also present in the webinar. The webinar was moderated by Khursheed Yousuf, Field Publicity Officer, Udhampur.
