DC Jammu chairs District Road Safety Committee meeting
Calls for creating mass awareness about Road Safety rules

JAMMU, Aug 27: To formulate the Action Plan for Road Safety measures and to decongest City and ensure smooth traffic flow in the district, Deputy Commissioner Anshul Garg today chaired a meeting of District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) here at DC office complex.
The meeting held threadbare deliberations with regard to management of Traffic, including identification of black spots, removal of road side objects that distract drivers, creating awareness about road safety rules through print and electronic media, improvement of lighting on vital roads, Traffic Management System, Critical Care Ambulances etc.
The DC stressed upon all the stakeholder departments to be proactive in formulating a comprehensive Road Safety Action Plan on priority basis. He stressed on the concerned officers to take all required measures to decongest the City roads for smooth flow of traffic.
The DC further instructed to remove roadside objects that hinder smooth traffic or distract drivers while driving.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned official from the Information Department to ensure mass awareness of traffic rules and regulations through print and electronic media.
He also stressed on repairing black spots, initiating remedial measures, installation of signages and painting of roads at appropriate spots and installation of High Security Number Plates by owners of vehicles.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned departments to ensure that school buses and other vehicles engaged in transportation of children must comply with all the traffic rules.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all the members to make coordinated efforts to ensure safety on roads and prompt emergency care.
SSP Traffic Koushal Sharma, ADC Satish Sharma besides senior officers of the concerned departments were present in the meeting
