One day workshop on Cyber Crime security organized at district police headquarters

Samba, Aug 27: Today Samba Police organized one day workshop on Cyber Crime Awareness/Security at Conference Hall, District Police Office, Samba for its Supervisory Officers, SHOs and I/Os under capacity building programme. The resource person Rajni Sambyal, faculty member of Govt. Degree College, Samba had highlighted the different aspects of cybercrime that can be encountered if one is not aware about pros and cons of internet usage. During her presentation, the guest speaker underlined the importance of knowledge of Cyber Crime and laid stress to generate cybercrime awareness among public so that they may not become easy prey to cybercriminals/fraudsters.
The speaker elaborately explained the different modus operandi being used by the cybercriminals to dupe gullible people such as by Phishing, Vishing, Fake Websites,URLs/Apps, Unknown calls. As a cyber-security measures, the terms like Digital Signature, Data Encryption, Security Audit, Cyber forensic and Firewall were also discussed.
At the conclusion SSP Samba, Sh. Rajesh Sharma, JKPS, thanked the guest speaker for accepting the invitation of Samba Police and acquainted the Police Officers with various cybercrime related issues. With the advancement of Information Technology, a lot of challenges has come to fore related to cybercrime and we need to be equipped enough with the knowledge of latest techniques to cope with emerging cyber threats, said by the SSP Samba. In his appeal, SSP Samba urged upon its citizens to beware of lucrative calls offerings jobs/lotteries, Giveaway scams, suspicious links received through SMSs/Emails and not to disclose sensitive information to unknown person on phone calls or on Social Media Platform.
Earlier Addl. SP Samba, Ajaz Ahmed Zargar welcomed the resource person for sparing her time to being with us for the conduct of today workshop on cyber crime awareness.
