GDC Darhal organises plantation drive

DARHAL, Sept 2: NSS Unit of Govt. Degree College Darhal organized a Plantation Drive in the College and the adjoining Higher Secondary School Darhal.
Principal of the college Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia told that Plantation Drive shall continue for one week to celebrate Poshan Vatika which is the Theme of First Week of Poshan Maah to be celebrated in the month of September 2021. He said that this year's Poshan Maah will be celebrated as Thematic Poshan Maah in which different themes will be addressed on weekly basis throughout the month of September 2021. He said that it is a wonderful initiative by the Govt. of India because it will improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers. It is a very effective mass movement for increasing the good nutrition in the country.
Plantation of fruit trees, medicinal plants and growing more number of vegetables shall definitely act as a sign of good future in attaining better health for the people of this country. Dr. Ather Aziz Raina NSS Programme Officer of the college told that NSS has been assigned the task to celebrate this year's Poshan Maah and NSS Unit of the college has started the programme with First Week's Theme Poshan Vatika. He told that the volunteers have planted so many saplings on the second day in the college, in HSS and in the surrounding areas and this plantation drive will continue throughout the week. NSS Group leader Sajjad Ahmed Malik told that the volunteers were quite satisfied and relaxed that they are doing something positive and fruitful for their motherland and also told that they will continue this thematic weekly Poshan Abhiyaan throughout this month of September. Senior faculty members Dr. Ahsan UL Rehman Rizvi and Dr. Imtiaz Hussain Shah were also present on this occasion. Non-teaching staff members Altaf, Qayoom, Safeer, Avez, and Saddam also attended plantation drive.
