Day heat wave continues, pleasant weather in morning, evening in Kashmir

Srinagar , Sept 5: Heat wave continued during the day while weather remained pleasant during the morning and evening hours in the Kashmir valley. The weather will remain mainly dry in the Kashmir valley and Jammu region during the next 24 hours, a Met department spokesman said Sunday evening. The weather will remain dry to isolated rain and thundershowers during the subsequent two days, he added. People in the valley, including Srinagar, continued to face heat wave due to above normal maximum temperature though weather remained pleasant in the morning and evening hours. Srinagar, where life remained affected as people remained indoor, the maximum temperature today was 31.8 degree, which was 3.3 notches above normal. The minimum temperature was 16.6 degree, 1.6 degree above normal. The sky would be clear to partly cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperature would be 31 degree and 16 degree respectively during the next 24 hours in Srinagar, Met spokesman said. Gulmarg, world famous ski resort in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, the maximum temperature was 21.4 degree, 1.9 degree above normal while the minimum temperature was 11 degree which was a notch above normal.
Famed health resort, which serves as base camp for annual pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, the minimum temperature was 11.2 degree , 0.7 degree above normal. The maximum temperature was 28.3 degree which was 3.7 notches above normal.
He said Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the maximum temperature was 31.2 degree, 4.2 notches above normal and minimum temperature was 13.5 degree slightly above normal. Kupwara a frontier district witnessed 31.2 degree maximum temperature which was 2.5 degree while the minimum temperature was 12.5 degree, one degree below normal.
