Out of 300 MPS, not even 3 visited Jammu: JCCI Prez
‘Jammu people facing discrimination even after abrogation of Article 370; condition of common man turning from bad to worse’

Early Times Report
Jammu, Sep 5: President of Jammu and Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) Arun Gupta on Sunday asked the government to reveal how many parliamentarians out of 300 visited Jammu?
In an interview to a local news channel Gupta said, “Everyday we see the news reports about parliamentarians visiting J&K but most of them reach Kashmir not Jammu. Only Ananth Kumar Sharma along with his team visited Jammu, others kept their visits confined to the Valley only. I want to ask the helmsmen, is it that Jammu people are non-existent? If 300 MPs can visit Kashmir, then why can’t even three MPs visit Jammu to know about the grievances of the people? Is it that only people of Kashmir have problems and Jammu is devoid of issues.”
“We are happy that off late people in Kashmir have started raising nationalist slogans and are holding the tricolor, but isn’t it true that people of Jammu have been raising the nationalist slogans for the past 73-years and always stood for the abrogation of Article 370. Unfortunate part is that the Jammuities are being ignored even after the scrapping of J&K’s special status and entire focus is on Kashmir,” the JCCI president said.
He said, “The government has not been able to devise a comprehensive policy for Jammu’s development even after August 5, 2019. Nothing has changed for a common man in Jammu. They were fed with slogans for the past 70-years and now also the same policy is being followed.”
Gupta alleged that Jammu continues to face discrimination even after J&K’s transition into a Union Territory. “Jammu suffered for the past 72-73 years as the people used to remember the sacrifice of Shayama Prasad Mukherjee and stood for the nationalist cause. They wanted Articles 370 and 35-A to go. These articles have gone but has it made any difference for the people of Jammu? Jammu has lost its sheen and condition of a common man is turning from bad to worse” he added.
