Thank you teachers for everything
9/6/2021 12:21:40 AM

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the teachers for the commendable job they did during COVID-19 times and how they innovated ways to ensure the education journey of students continues in tough times.
Soon after the outbreak of pandemic in 2020, educational institutions across the country were closed which led to the education system shifting to the online mode. Despite the situation not being favourable, teachers tried their best to ensure that students don’t suffer.
The teachers took various steps to demonstrate how online teaching could be possible. In the remote areas where there were no smartphones and internet connectivity teachers took community classes in open air.
When Dr Radhakrishan took over the office of the second President of India in 1962, his students approached him to seek permission to celebrate September 5 as a special day. Dr Radhakrishnan instead made a request of them to observe September 5 as Teachers’ Day, to recognise the contribution of teachers to the society. Since then it is celebrated as Teachers’ Day.
Teachers play an important role in the life of a child as they are the ones who groom him/her to become an adult. The relationship of a student and a teacher is based on mutual respect and faith. During the past two years teachers have shown the way and have proven it beyond doubt that where there is a will there’s a way.
The pandemic has taught us many lessons and how the teachers performed their duties amidst crisis should serve as a lesson for one and all. One thing has been proven beyond doubt that in the future also technology can be used to carry on educational activities.
Teachers are nation builders and they are the ones who groom doctors, engineers, scientists, legal luminaries and others. But the moot point is that do they get the respect and honour they deserve? In earlier days students could go to any extent to repay their teachers. But today the same principles don’t apply. The education has been commercialized. We need to inculcate moral values and teach our children that teachers are their true friends who build them up without seeking any favours in return. Teachers deserve all the kudos and praise for leading from the front and Prime Minister Narendra Modi by acknowledging their efforts has shown the way which all of us need to follow.
