Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Sept 26: NGO 'Jiyo Aur Jeene Do' has appealed to the district administration to pay attention towards various civic issues being confronted by the residents of Udhampur city and its vicinity.
Addressing a press conference here today, President 'Jiyo Aur Jeene Do' Tariq Shah said that there are frequent traffic jams at many places in the city especially at Slathia Chowk and Venus Chowk. Such a situation persists and this becomes a matter of more concern. We made an appeal to the district administration to put up a divider from Domail Chowk to Venus Chowk. Many times our NGO has appealed to the administration in this regard in the past also.
He said that along with this, the problem of stray animals roaming on the roads is there due to which not only the traffic but the pedestrians also are facing troubles. Efforts have been made earlier by the administration in the past but still cows, horses and many other animals are seen standing on the roads, which endanger their lives and also of the passers-by. It is an appeal to the administration to provide relief to the people by taking steps in this direction.
He also sought attention of the administration towards the problem of wrong parking in several areas of the city. Shah said that vehicles are being parked on the way in a haphazard manner and a large number of motorcycles are parked outside the police station as well, making it difficult to even get out of Adarsh Colony. Besides he also raised the issue of Sairgaah Road's dilapidated condition. On this occasion, General Secretary Parveen Akhter, Treasurer Rajesh Khajuria, Programme Coordinator Neena Koul, Members Anju, Ali and others were also present.
