Rs 1500-cr for Srinagar, Rs 650-cr for Jammu: Netizens aghast over discrimination with nationalists

Early Times Report

Jammu, Sept 26: The announcement of Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said that two new airport terminals shall be established in Jammu and Kashmir triggered a fresh debate in social media.
Enraged over unabated discrimination with the Jammu region, netizens take on different social media platforms to highlight, what they called, step-motherly treatment with the Jammu region.
The Jammu-based netizens expressed anger over discrimination with the Jammu region despite being the fact that BJP is ruling the country.
“We are nationalist so facing step-motherly treatment”, observed Rajinder Singh, a Jammu resident observed while mentioning the announcement of Union Minister. The Union Minister on Saturday announced that an airport terminal worth Rs. 1500 crore shall be established on 25 thousand square metres in Kashmir, while as another airport terminal worth Rs. 650 crore shall be established in Jammu on 22 thousand square metres land size.
“Rs 1500 crore for Kashmir and Rs 650 crore for Jammu. This is another glaring example of discrimination with nationalist people”, tweeted another Jammu-based netizen who regretted that nothing has been done to remove 75-year-old discrimination with the Jammu region.
“Discrimination prevails no matter who is in governance. Rs 1500 crore for establishing an airport of 25,000 sq.m in Kashmir. And only Rs 650 crore for establishing an airport in Jammu covering an area of 22,000 sq.m”, tweeted Ankush Manhas, another netizen of Jammu. His tweet was retweeted by many annoying youth of Jammu who feel betrayed, humiliated, and backstabbed by the government.
Sahil Dogra, another youth of Jammu, who always use social media to highlight Jammu’s issues also availed this opportunity to pinpoint this discrimination.
As per an official handout issued by the government, the minister said that since a special focus is being given on the development of both air and road connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, a major road network including highways, ring roads, tunnels, and other projects are being constructed across Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh.
