Mahila Congress protests skyrocketing prices of essential commodities
9/26/2021 11:09:42 PM
Early Times Report
KATHUA, Sept 26: In connection with the ongoing campaign to expose anti-poor policies of the BJP led NDA government at the centre, the Mahila Congress held a protest at Kathua organized by district president Kathua, Veena Devi.
The protest was mainly against an unprecedented hike in the prices of essential commodities and general fuel prices, including that of cooking gas in particular. Addressing the protesters, J&K president of Mahila Congress and former MLA Indu Pawar said the people are suffering from inflation while the Narendra Modi government is busy with tax collection. "The Modi government came to power by showing big dreams to the citizens. But today, it has become difficult for the poor to purchase expensive cooking gas cylinders," she said. "Inflation is rising persistently and the price of an LPG cylinder is soon going to cross Rs 1,000. The prices of petrol and diesel are also on fire."
Petrol and diesel prices also increased. The Government, it appeared, had failed to sense people's sentiment and gauge their hardships.
Mahila Congress president further said that womenfolk are the worst sufferers from the anti-poor policies being propagated by the corporate-controlled BJP government. She regretted that instead of solving basic problems of the common masses, the BJP led government is only protecting the interests of big corporate houses by sucking the blood of the poor people. Others who spoke on the occasion included Anchana Devi, Jyoti Verma and Sakshi Devi.
