SOTTO organizes awareness session with students of Stephens College of Nursing

JAMMU, Oct 4: State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) J&K organized an awareness session on Deceased Organ Donation in in collaboration with Stephen College of Nursing Jammu.
Principal GMC, Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma also lauded the efforts of students and SOTTO J&K. She spoke on the importance of donating organs after brain death. She said that we should motivate more people to donate organs.
Students were made aware of National Organ Transplant Program (NOTP) which is being run in SSH, Govt Medical College Jammu. They were told that many people die due to non-availability of organs for transplant so it is very important to pledge and donate organs.
During the programme, OPD visitors were made aware by students through Rangoli and posters. Students also pledge to donate their organs after death and motivate others to do the same.
Dr Kamal Saini (Retd IGP), Chairman, Stephens College of Nursing and Mrs Satvinder Saini (Director, SIPS) also lauded the role of SOTTO J&K and students of Stephens College of Nursing for carrying out activities related to Organ Donation.
They said that creating awareness regarding organ donation is the only way to bridge the gap between the huge amount of organs and short supply of donors.
Manoj Kotru, Administrator, Stephens College of Nursing advises the students to think out of the box so that their contribution to society is manifold.
Rajni Sharma, Assistant Professor, Stephen College; Anshu Sharma, consultant IEC/Media (SOTTO) J&K and Dr Irfan Lone, Transplant Coordinator were also present during the programme.
