DC inaugurates 2-day capacity building programme for Sarpanchs, Panches at Ramban

RAMBAN, Oct 20: Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, today inaugurated a 2-day capacity building programme for Sarpanchs and Panches of the district here at community Hall Maitra, Ramban.
The training programme is being organized by the department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal Sharma; BDO Ramban, Vishal Atri and various senior officers from district administration besides PRIs and general public attended the programme.
In his inaugural address the Deputy Commissioner said that the government intends to equip the Sarpanchs and Panchs through training aimed at making them familiar with the PR Act, participative planning, budgeting and accounting practices and social audit.
While speaking on the occasion, The DC also highlighted the role of panchyats and its elected members in planning and execution process of development projects of basic requirements.
The DC said that development of rural areas has been directly connected with the working and efficiency of all stakeholders of panchyats. He said that we should participate in healthy competition between Panchayats in achieving the targets by executing development works besides effectively implementing the social and financial assistance schemes in their panchayats. The DC asked the PRIs to take advantage of this opportunity which would go a long way in building capacities of the elected representatives and help them to chalk out their roles and responsibilities and enable them to discharge their duties more efficiently. The DC urged the PRIs to spread awareness among the general public about youth and women oriented schemes like MUMKIN, Tejsawani and various other schemes. Earlier, BDO briefed about the two day training programme and said that the training programme will include different sessions.
