Old guards Vs new babus: Lack of coordination affects JK admin
10/20/2021 11:47:45 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 20: Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah were working hard to accomplish the dream of naya Jammu and Kashmir, the alleged lack of coordination between the veteran bureaucrats and those on deputation in the Union Territory seems to be playing spoilsport.
Official sources said there was lack of coordination between the “old guards”, a name for the veteran bureaucrats of previously J&K Cadre, and those on deputation.
Sources said officials who have had years of experience of work in J&K have been sidelined by a “coterie which is calling the shots but at the cost of the dream on Naya Kashmir.”
Sources said some of the officials are so fed up of the “improper way of working that they want to go on deputation elsewhere.”
“Those who are calling the shots are so busy hosting music and dance shows and sporting events that the administrative affairs have been put on backburner. Such style of governance is to mislead New Delhi about the ground situation,” said a group senior officials on the condition of anonymity.
They said, “The lack of coordination was due to the fact that some of the officials on deputation were behaving like supremacists and not bothered about addressing the public issues.”
“If BJP lost the DDC elections even in Jammu it was only due to the arrogance of such officials and the rise in corruption,” the delegation of officials said.
It’s pertinent to mention that the Jammu and Kashmir government is facing severe criticism for failing to deliver in accordance with the wishes of PM Modi and Amit Shah.
The Jammu and Kashmir government is accused of “large scale corruption and not paying heed to public aspirations.”
Ironically even on the day two when non-Muslim school teachers were killed by militants in the first week of October, the administration launched Jashne Dal, a three-day sporting festival in Srinagar.
