Srinagar, Nov 11: An unidentified militant has been killed in an encounter that broke out between militants and security forces in south Kashmir's Kulgam district on Thursday afternoon, police said here. An official news agency that the encounter broke out in Chawalgam area of Kulgam today afternoon.
He said that a joint team of forces launched a cordon and search operation following inputs about the presence of militants in the area. "As the forces zeroed in on the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated to, triggering an enounter," he said.
The official said that in the ensuing encounter one unidentified militant has been killed, while further operation was going on. "KulgamEncounterUpdate: 01 unidentified #terrorist killed. #Operation in progress. Further details shall follow," Kashmir Zone police Tweeted. |
