Poonch, Nov 8: The alleged negligence on the part of the Public Works Department Poonch has literally put the lives of people at risk. The department has constructed a faulty concrete drain slab on ever busy road at Nakhan Wali Chowk which has become an accident point.
According to locals PWD Poonch constructed a drain slab on the Nakhan Wali Chowk but its faulty construction led to vehicles falling into it. This led to the road becoming one way and caused traffic jams.
This road leads to the hospital and other important offices.
“Nakhan Wali Chowk has become an accident prone point. Though the concerned department was informed about the problems on many occasions but it never paid any attention towards the issue,” the local residents said.
They informed that today an accident took place wherein an army vehicle fell into one side of the drain slab and remained stuck for hours which led to heavy traffic snarl.
“This vital road leads to a hospital and in case of emergency a patient can die on the way due to traffic jam” they said, adding that a thorough probe should be conducted in the construction of faulty drain slab.”
When contacted ADC Poonch Bhasharat Hussain said that he would conduct an inquiry and appropriate action will be taken against the officials concerned. |
