GDC Udhampur Holds Prize Distribution for Sports

Udhampur, Nov 15: Govt. Degree College Udhampur conducted prize distribution functions for victory of student teams in various sport events during the Inter College Tournament organized by the University of Jammu, in which teams of the college had claimed various positions.
During the function, medals and track suits were awarded to the students.
In the Handball Tournament, the college team won 1 Gold Medal, and was led by Captain Aditya, coached by Karun Magotra, (Qualified NIS Handball Coach) presently working as PET DYSSO Udhampur. The team consisted of Arun Sharma, Ankush Sarmal, Aman Kumar, Rohit Sharma, Ashish Singh, Kartik Thakur, Tushar Sharma, Ram Sehwag and Raghav Thakur.
In the Boxing Tournament, Ankush, Ankush Thakur and Aryan Sharma won 1 Silver Medal each, while 1 bronze medal was won by Aman Sharma.
In the Fencing Competition, the team won 3 Bronze medals and included Kamran Naik and Danish Deep Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College Prof. Subhash Chander Sharma, who was the chief guest on the occasion, praised Physical DIrector Shashi Kumar Sharma and the members of the participant teams on their excellent performance, and encouraged students to participate in more such events. He said that participation in Sports activities are essential for all round development of the students’ personality, adding that in addition to physical exercise, these events inculcate spirit of team work and sportsmanship in the students.
Prof. Kamal Kishore (Convener Sports), Physical Director Mr. Shashi Kumar Sharma and other members of the Sports Committee namely Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Dr. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Dr. Archana Gupta, Prof. Samosh Kumar, and Prof. Imtiaz Shahid were also present on the occasion.
