Ayushaman Card Joke: Authorities wakeup from deep slumber after Early Times’ exposure
11/15/2021 11:32:29 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 15: Within days after the Early Times exposed the Ayushman Bharat scheme as a ‘cruel joke’ with the residents of J&K like other schemes, authorities awake from deep slumber and started an investigation in the case highlighted by this newspaper.
An officer from the Ayushman Bharat scheme called me on Monday and inquired about the whole episode”, Naresh Kapoor, who was denied admission in Narayana Hospital on this much-touted health card told the Early Times. “I have sent a photocopy of my file to the officer who called me. I am confident that action will be taken against the hospital for not entertaining my Ayushaman Bharat card”, he said, adding, “I narrated the whole episode to the officer and informed him that hospital authorities told me that there was a three-day-waiting for the Ayushman Bharat card”.
As reported by the Early Times in its November 13 edition, very much like other schemes which are working only on papers and in government advertisements, the much-touted ‘Ayushman Bharat scheme’ is also proved to be a cruel joke with the residents of Jammu and Kashmir as private hospitals are not admitting patients on this card.
Naresh Kapoor, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, was in the need of emergency treatment when his platelet counts came down but he was denied admission on the Ayushman Card with an excuse that there was a three-day waiting for this health card.
It is still a mystery what is the concept of waiting for admitting patients on this health insurance card. As per this card, all residents of J&K as entitled to five lakh health insurance.
Sources said that Naresh Kapoor is not an isolated case. In many cases, private hospitals denied admission to patients on this card with one or another excuse.
People in J&K in particular and the Jammu region, in general, believed that all schemes launched by the present government in J&K were confined only to papers. Instead of ensuring proper implementation of these schemes on the ground, Babus are more particular about the publicity of these schemes through advertisements only to hoodwink the Union Government that ‘everything is going smoothly in J&K’.
Schemes launched by the present regime are yet to be properly implemented on the ground because there is no mechanism to check the same.
