GDC Vijaypur organizes online celebration of Library Week

Vijaypur, Nov 15: GDC Vijaypur organized an online celebration thereby initiating the celebrations of the Library Week with the aim to let students know about the valuable resources and importance of libraries.
On the second day i.e the 15th of November, a student’s seminar was conducted in the seminar hall of the College which started with the welcome address presented by Disha Arti, Librarian GDC Vijaypur.
In her address, she highlighted the theme of the week “Welcome to Your Library” and also discussed about the life and contributions of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, prominently known as the Father of Library and Information Sciences in India followed by a floral tribute to Dr. S.R. Ranghanathan.
A no. of oral presentations were enthusiastically made by the students of the College highlighting the role of Libraries in the overall development of the personality and career of the students.
First, Second and Third prize for oral presentation was bagged by Tania Sharma, Haroon Malik and Manveer Kour of Sem-I respectively while consolation prize was given to Simran Kour and Aman Gorka of Sem-I.
The programme was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College. In her address, she apprised that the libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building and everyone is welcome to use them and carve their own niche. She further added that Libraries offer opportunities for everyone to explore new vistas and become their best selves.
The proceedings of the event were conducted by Ms. Disha Arti and adjucated by Dr. Shittal Sharma and Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch. Certificates were awarded to all the winners.
