Yasha Mudgal inaugurates celebration; highlights power of cooperatives towards transforming lives

SAMBA, Nov 16: As part of weeklong celebration of 68th Cooperative week, a grand divisional level event was organized at Nud block by the department of Cooperatives Samba in collaboration with Kathua.
Secretary, Cooperatives Department, Yasha Mudgal, chaired the function which witnessed high enthusiasm and heavy participation of locals as well as farmers.
Yasha Mudgal said the aim of the celebration was to highlight the achievements of cooperative sector in various sectors and chalk out future strategies for growth based on dynamics of cooperative development in each sector. She added that through these week-long celebrations a large number of people are being sensitized on developments in the cooperative sector. She also highlighted the role and power of cooperatives towards transforming lives of people. Secretary asked the officers to work with dedication and well planned strategy for achieving set targets in time. She advised participants and departmental officials to work through convergence of various fields like agriculture, floriculture, dairy, Fishery, Horticulture and other such potential areas. She expressed hope that the department will make every effort towards ensuring a viable and vibrant cooperative movement in the division.
She also briefed about the role of NABARD and its schemes in deepening the roots of cooperative department and talked about the convergence of such other government initiatives meant to uplift the rural population and making them self reliant especially women.
During the function, various products produced by Self Help Groups and Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) from across the district were exhibited.
Later, Secretary gave mementoes to outstanding contributors in cooperatives besides handing over a LCD to the FPO Nud for their exceptional work. Earlier, Additional Registrar, Cooperatives Department Jammu, Nirupa Rai, presented a detailed overview of cooperative societies in Jammu division besides briefing about recent registration of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in Samba as Cooperatives.
DGM NABARD, Anamika, ADDC Samba, Tilak Raj Sharma besides other senior officers and members of various Cooperatives and Farmer-Producer Organizations were present on the occasion.
