GDC Sidhra organizes lecture on life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji

JAMMU, Nov 17: Cultural Committee of Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra has successfully celebrated Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti under the banner of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' by organizing an offline lecture on 'Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Life History and Principles'. The resource person of the lecture was Popinder Singh Paras, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu. The programme was initiated with the welcome address by Dr Satbir Kour, Coordinator of the event. Resource person explicitly deliberated on the 'Teachings and Principles of Guru Nank Dev Ji'. He stated that the most famous teaching attributed to Guru Nanak Dev Ji is that there is only one God, and that can all human beings can have direct access to God. The Guru denounced the caste system and said everyone is equal, regardless of caste and gender. He further stated his various key lessons and teachings which included honesty and truth that overpower everything, equality and brotherhood which goes hand in hand, to live a life away from evil and see or hear no discrimination. A large number of students of different semesters of the college interacted with the resource person about the history, philosophy and teachings of Guru Nank Devji. They enthusiastically cleared their doubts and queries regarding the historical specificities related with Guru Nanak Jayanti. Principal, Dr Monika Sharma concluded the programme while giving her appreciating words and encouragement to the valuable lecture of the Resource person. The lecture concluded with the vote of thanks, given by Prof Mussarat Chowdhary, Convener of Cultural Committee. The event was organized by Dr Anshu Gupta, Dept of EVS and Prof Meesha Bhagat, members of the Cultural Committee of the college.
