SRINAGAR, Nov 17: Two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and two civilians were injured after suspected militants lobbed a grenade in Palhallan Chowk, while an infiltration bid was also foiled in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday.
Sources said that militants hurled a grenade on CRPF party Palhalan area of Pattan tehsil in which two CRPF men and two civilians were injured; all injured were shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment.
However sources while quoting a senior police official as having said that, a hand grenade was hurled by militants on CRPF party in Palhalan area in which two CRPF personnel were injured and later they were identified as ASI Nitesh Kumar son of Baktu Ram resident of HP No: 911340305 45-G Coy and HC Ashil Das son of Bugh Das resident of Utrakhand No 03513781 45-G Coy.
Two civilians were also injured and were identified as Lateef Ahamd R/O Takya Tapper, Junaid Hassan of Palhallan, the officer said.
Sources said that all the injured persons received minor splinter injuries that were treated by doctors at the nearby hospital.
They said that soon after the attack, the security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.
Meanwhile it is learnt that a massive search operation was launched by the Army on Wednesday in the Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla district.
Sources said that the Army troops deployed along LoC foiled an infiltration bid near Dhulanja post in Rewand Nallah in Uri sector following which the whole area was cordoned off and the search operation was launched.
The exchange of fire also took place when the bid was foiled last night, adding suspected movement on the LoC was fired last night, the area is being searched now, said an official.
