GDC Kalakote organizes poster making competition on water conservation

KALAKOTE, Nov 23: Department of Environmental Sciences (EVS) in collaboration with NSS unit of GDC Kalakote, with the support and guidance of Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, GDC Kalakote organized offline “Poster Making Competition” on the theme “Importance of Water Conservation” in commemoration to, “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” with Covid-19 protocols.
Manvi Sharma of B.A semester 3rd bagged the first prize whereas the second prize was shared by Daisy Bhau of semester 5th and Bharti Bharwal of semester 3rd and Sakshi Devi of 3rd semester won the third prize in this competition. Dr Tariq Rashid Wani, Dr Ajay Singh Manhas and Dr Mohd Shakoor were the judges of the competition.
Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, applauded the students for their participation and motivated them to participate in such activities as these activities instill awareness among the youth. He also stressed on how water conservation can be done and why it is of utmost importance. He further said that conserving water is important because the world is facing water scarcity and also it keeps water pure and clean while protecting the environment. Conserving water means using our water supply wisely and be responsible. Only 2% of the earth’s fresh supply of water is locked in ice caps and glaciers, while 97.5% of the earth’s water is saltwater.
At last, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the college appreciated the organizing committees for organizing this offline activity and also the faculty members. This event was organized under the supervision of Vrinda Sharma, HOD EVS and coordinated by Priyanka Kumari PO NSS unit.
