Domestic violence: Woman, beaten by husband, 6 relatives, awaits justice

DODA, Dec 2: A lady faced domestic violence in Lopa village in Thathri in Doda district and was taken to a hospital in Thathri on Monday. Later, she was referred to GMC Doda. The police registered an FIR on the same day against seven alleged accused, but it's been four days since no arrests were made.
According to the victim, she was beaten by her husband and his six relatives.
The lady's left leg was fractured, and her right arm also had a critical wound, while her whole body had many minor wounds too. The victim has been identified as Attar Bibi, wife of Noor Din of Lopa village in Thathri tehsil. Attar Bibi said, "My husband beats me always. He tells me that he will divorce me and force me to go to my parents' home." "I have three sons. Where will I go?" she added.
Talking to Early Times correspondent, the victim's father, Hashim Din, said, "I have spent all my property on this daughter. Today I sold my cattle for the treatment of my daughter."
"I have a disc problem and my son is separated from me. I can't earn anything now," he added.
He further said, "I have told them if they see any problem with my daughter, then follow the legal process so that my daughter's life will not become hell after divorce, but they ignore and beat my daughter badly 3–4 times in a month for the last 3–4 years."
The police registered FIRs under sections 498A, 323, 504 and 506 IPC against seven accused, but till today no arrests were made. SHO Thathri Amrit Katoch said, "Investigation is going on and arrests will be made soon."
