16 theft cases reported in last six days in Tehsil Pouni, police fail to nab thieves

JAMMU, Dec 10: Angered over the spurt in theft cases in tehsil Pouni of district Reasi, the local residents as well as the shopkeepers today blocked road to lodge protest against Police Station Pouni for its failure to nab thieves who executed 16 theft cases in last six days.
The agitated people raised slogans against the SHO Pouni for showing laxity in the theft cases.
"It is very shocking that 16 theft cases were reported in last 6 days but police failed to nab the culprits. Some culprits were indentified in CCTV footage yet police failed to arrest them," alleged Deedar Singh shopkeeper Pouni, Ajeet Kumar Balgotra senior lecturer Vikas Gandotra, Pawan Sharma Chairman. They alleged that theft cases are increasing everyday but police is sitting idle, which indicates that police is hand in glove thieves.
They demanded the immediate transfer of concerned SHO and appealed to the SSP Reasi to appoint new officer. Not only this even several cases in different crimes are lying pending and if timely actions would have been taken, the theft cases could not be increased in area, they said. When Early Times contacted the DySP he said that action will be taken in the theft cases and result will be before the public in next few days.
